As one of the many new developments at Universal Studios Hollywood’s ongoing epic transformation, Universal Cinema is an exciting multi-million dollar renovation of its AMC Theatre at CityWalk. Boasting a state-of-the-art and contemporary design, the new theater incorporates the most up-to-date technology in audio and visual technology that truly breathes new life into the movie-going experience for guests.
Theme Park Adventure was thrilled to attend the official grand opening of this new venture. As part of the Universal Cinema grand opening, high-profile guests were able to celebrate with us including Ron Meyer, Vice Chairman, NBCUniversal; legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg; Jordan Peele of Get Out; Will Packer of Straight Outta Compton; producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions; and Karen Irwin, President & COO, Universal Studios Hollywood.
“As The Entertainment Capital of L.A., we’ve entertained guests for generations, taking them behind the scenes of movie-making, and placing them in the heart of the action with our incredible attractions, so it’s only fitting that we create the ultimate movie-going experience, giving fans access to a movie theater where they watch films in Hollywood screening rooms the same way filmmakers do,” said Karen Irwin.
As the celebration continued, we made our way into the newly-renovated, beautiful Universal Cinema, which evokes modern elegance and chic design – much better than it ever was. To me, as a frequent movie-goer and fan, this renovation is a breath of fresh air. The bold design creates a fantastic welcome – from illuminated LED chandeliers, to stylish tiles – this is exactly what CityWalk Hollywood needed. While exterior design is important, the most noticeable difference is the movie experience. The renovation features recliner seats with extra legroom, reserved seating, Dolby Atmos surround sound, Christie projection systems, and of course, our favorite… a cocktail bar named the Director’s Lounge.
With guests craving a more personalized experience when going to the movies, reserved seating is only a small part of modern expectations. What Universal has created, is something incredibly welcoming – a place that I would be extremely happy to watch a film in any time. This new endeavor has been an incredible feat for the team at Universal; we congratulate them for creating an improved experience for guests.
CityWalk Hollywood is undergoing an exciting transformation, including the recently-opened Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, to delicious treats at Voodoo Doughnut! Come watch a film at a place built on legendary filmmaking and memorable entertainment experiences – Universal Cinema is open for you.
