When we started the Summer Nights at Trader Sam’s gatherings at the Disneyland Hotel, we wanted it to be a social event where everyone could discuss haunts/theme parks, network, and grab a few drinks. We didn’t think it would get so big, but on September 16th, we had nearly 60 people join us that evening and completely filled the back patio!
In order to launch the Halloween, we gave away MANY prizes – tickets to Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, Haunted Hollywood Sports, Knott’s Halloween Haunt, and Sinister Pointe. Not only tickets were given away, but there were exclusive prizes such as a custom-made leather jacket by music composer Jon Autopsy. What’s great about our gatherings is that you never know who you will meet. Since our first meet-up in July, we had many haunt/theme park industry legends attend such as Garner Holt, Jeff Schiefelbein, John Waite, David Ortiz, and Eric Lynxwiler. And for the haunt fans, we must have had someone from every haunt in Southern California! We have had folks from The Empty Grave, Knott’s Halloween Haunt, Halloween Horror Nights, Sinister Pointe, Dark Harbor, Chambers of the Mausoleum/Labyrinth of Lost Relics, Boot Hill, and Haunted Hollywood Sports. But let’s not forget the websites! Our meet-ups were also great for networking – we have had Behind the Thrills, MonsterSpace, Theme Park Talk, and Scare Zone join us. Now that the Halloween season is in full swing, Summer Nights at Sam’s has officially ended…but…The gatherings will continue after October. Thank you all who joined us and made Summer Nights at Sam’s successful. We will see you in November!
