TPA Bids Aloha to Winter Nights at Don’s 2015

Winter_Nights_at_Dons_2_0636In December of 2014, Theme Park Adventure hosted its Christmas Bash at a brand new meeting spot – Don the Beachcomber, in Huntington Beach, California! Since then, we have formed a tremendous relationship with the team at Don’s, and the iconic tiki restaurant has become the official gathering place for TPAers each month!

On Sunday, February 15, we hosted our final Winter Nights at Don’s mixer of 2015, with more than 100 fans, haunters and industry professionals in attendance to eat, drink and laugh the night away in the Hidden Village, our tropical oasis of thatched tiki huts and hanging string lights! Not that we ever had one, we all gathered to bid farewell to the winter season, and look forward to spring and all of the fun it’s sure to bring with its arrival.

Once again, our good friend Susie Caples provided fun balloon sculptures for the group, including a large piece that hung out on the “stage” with TPA’s Rick West as he presided over the night’s shenanigans. Susie does a great job and is Theme Park Adveture’s go-to gal when it comes to birthdays, anniversaries, or whatever occasion calls for fun balloon sculptures. TPAers interested can contact Susie at SCaples@peoplepc.com.

February means Valentine’s Day, and Valentine’s Day means… candy! As the monthly raffle got underway, Rick began distributing sweets to the crowd systematically and fairly, as we’re sure everyone will attest to!

In addition to pelting.. er, passing out candy, we had a fine assortment of prizes to give away this month, including:

  • Large boxes of chocolates, including one monstrous-sized collection, courtesy of Theme Park Adventure – because we love you guys!
  • 2 Disney Infinity figures and various promotional items from The Walt Disney Studios, courtesy of The Walt Disney Company
  • 2 teeVillain shirts
  • Winter_Nights_at_Dons_2_06183 Timeboxes from our dear friend, Jeff Tucker, of the 91 Reasons podcast. If you haven’t yet started listening to Jeff’s podcast, it’s time! 91 Reasons is free, and belongs in your ear holes now. Click over and subscribe – you’ll never be the same again!
  • The very first pair of ScareLA 2015 tickets, courtesy of ScareLA

Speaking of… unless you live under a rock, you’re probably aware that we recently made a huge announcement regarding this year’s ScareLA convention, revealing that it will be held August 8 and 9 at the Pasadena Convention Center! Tickets are now on sale, with heavy discounts in place the sooner you buy them! Representatives from ScareLA were on hand this month to talk to folks about volunteering to be part of our 2015 team, and the interest was fantastic! We can’t wait to bring you Halloween in August once again!

The night was a wonderful time spent with friends old and new, networking and just hanging out! A huge thank you to the awesome team at Don the Beachcomber for being so attentive and giving Theme Park Adventure a new home this winter!

Just…. damn.

If you’ve never been to a TPA mixer, we encourage you to come out and play in March, as we begin our Spring Nights at Don’s gatherings! Even if you come alone, you won’t regret it, and you’ll immediately be welcomed by the group!

Our first Spring Nights at Don’s mixer will be held on Sunday, March 15 at Don the Beachcomber! RSVP so that we know you’re coming – and so that ol’ Don can stock up on enough tiki spirits for the group! With a new season comes a new button design, and our pal Tom “Thor” Thordarson is spring-ifying our TPA tiki right now so that it’ll bring shower and flowers into the coming months as we head into the home stretch of Theme Park Adventure’s 20th Anniversary!

Thank each and every one of you that came out to spend the evening with us in Huntington Beach this month! This truly is the best community in the world, and we are so lucky to have such an amazing group of people to hang out with each month!

See you all in a few weeks!
