Wicked Lit 2016 Brings Haunting Theatrical Excellence to Los Angeles
Posted on October 11, 2016
Wicked Lit is extremely challenging to describe to those who haven’t experienced it before. You throw out adjectives such as “beautiful”, “haunting”, “immersive”… and then chase it with, “And they do it in a cemetery and mausoleum.” That’s usually where the record needle scratch comes in the conversation.
But it’s true. Wicked Lit (short for “literature”) is a stunning theatrical presentation that takes place each Halloween season at the Mountain View Mortuary, Cemetery and Crematory in Altadena, California. If you’re unfamiliar – and I would imagine most people would be – Mountain View’s mausoleum is stunning – ornate and gorgeous. The surrounding cemetery grounds are also very serene and well-maintained. Not to sound morbid, it’s the type of place you walk through and think, “Ending up here wouldn’t be half bad, I suppose.” That said, at some point, that’s exactly what members of Unbound Productions thought, too. And so, Wicked Lit found a home in the hills above Pasadena.

Wicked Lit Illuminates Halloween 2015 With Stunning Production in Los Angeles
Posted on October 11, 2015
Wicked Lit has done it again, stunning us with incredibly cool productions that play out among the dead in the Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena, California, just minutes from Burbank and Glendale here in Los Angeles. After seeing a Wicked Lit play during ScareLA 2013, we attended one of Unbound Productions’ full presentations last Halloween – and our heads melted from how fantastic it was! With great anticipation, we made the drive once again to Mountain View this season for another night of Wicked Lit – and once again, were completely blown away by how much fun we had at this incredibly unique theatrical production.
For those not in the know, Wicked Lit is a large-scale theatrical experience that is created each Halloween season by Unbound Productions. It takes place in the Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery (at least it has for the past 7 years), throughout the incredible resting grounds found there. The mausoleum is incredible – ornate, grand, and beautiful. The cemetery grounds around the mausoleum also become a stage for Wicked Lit, something that is both haunting and wonderful at the same time, in a macabre sort of way. Each play is based on a well-known story – thus, literature becomes “lit”, and the art of storytelling this group has perfected is simply… wicked.

REVIEW: Wicked Lit 2014 Halloween Production
Posted on October 28, 2014
Wicked Lit’s 2014 Halloween show which takes place at the Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena, California, is just about as creative and unusual as any Halloween event or attraction we’ve ever visited. By no means a “traditional” Halloween show, Wicked Lit offers a highly-immersive theatrical experience that is both beautiful and haunting.
Formed in 2009 as an off-shoot of Unbound Productions, Wicked Lit is a theatrical group that adapts classic horror literature into dynamic, highly-engaging productions. Usually, these performances are held in and around cemeteries. In 2013, Wicked Lit appeared at ScareLA, where they performed their version of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic, The Tell-Tale Heart, which was a major hit with our convention guests. After seeing the group at ScareLA, we knew that sooner than later, we’d be seeing one of their full-length productions. That moment came this Halloween season, and wow – what an amazing experience we had!
