Kao Corporation Becomes Major Tokyo Disney Resort Sponsor

As of July 1, Kao Corporation (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; president and CEO: Michitaka Sawada) has begun sponsorship of Splash Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland Park and Toy Story Mania! and Toyville Trolley Park at Tokyo DisneySea Park. Kao Corporation is now a sponsor of both Parks operated by Oriental Land Co., Ltd., (headquarters: Urayasu-shi, Chiba; president and COO: Kyoichiro Uenishi). In addition, Kao Corporation is also sponsoring the new “Hand Washing Areas” in both Parks, for which an opening ceremony was held today.
The “Hand Washing Areas” are new additions to both Parks – one installed in Critter Country at Tokyo Disneyland Park and the other in American Waterfront at Tokyo DisneySea Park. The “Hand Washing Areas” feature a soap dispenser that releases Mickey Mouse-shaped soap foam by pushing a button or placing one’s hand under the dispenser. Restrooms in both Parks will also feature this unique dispenser. The opening ceremony for the “Hand Washing Areas” was held in Critter Country at Tokyo Disneyland.

Tokyo DisneySea Prepares for its 15th Anniversary in 2016

Tokyo Disney Resort announced that to mark the 15th anniversary of the grand opening of Tokyo DisneySea Park, a major celebration will be held at the Park from April 15, 2016, through March 17, 2017, entitled Tokyo DisneySea 15th Anniversary: The Year of Wishes.
Since Tokyo DisneySea opened on September 4, 2001, as the only Disney Park themed to the sea, millions of Guests have enjoyed the unique atmosphere and adventures offered at the Park. And for this anniversary year, Guests will be able to share a wide variety of new experiences. “Wishes” are people’s dreams for the future and give a feeling of hope and excitement. During the anniversary, Guests will find that their wishes will shine even brighter with the help of their navigators – Mickey Mouse and the Disney friends – as well as all the Tokyo DisneySea Cast Members.
During the event, crystals of various colors symbolizing individual wishes will decorate the Park. The crystals will even sparkle on the Disney characters’ costumes and merchandise, creating an atmosphere of hope and dreams throughout the Park.

Tokyo DisneySea Announces New Finding Nemo & Dory Attraction

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. announced that a new attraction will open in Port Discovery at Tokyo DisneySea Park in spring 2017. The new attraction will be themed to the world of the Disney/Pixar films Finding Nemo and Finding Dory (to be released in 2016). This indoor attraction will immerse Guests in the underwater world of these popular stories by using a ride system that seamlessly blends visuals from the films with a motion system.
Boarding a submarine that “shrinks” to the size of a fish, Guests can explore the vast underwater world from the same point of view as Nemo and Dory.
Guests can meet different characters and make new discoveries when they ride.

Tokyo Disney Resort Unveils Major Expansion Plans

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. announced that several themes for the further expansion plans of the Disney parks at Tokyo Disney Resort have been decided. For Tokyo Disneyland Park, two of the areas within the Fantasyland redevelopment plan will be themed to the Disney films Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland.
The overall theme for the new themed port at Tokyo DisneySea Park will be Scandinavia with a portion of the area being themed specifically to the world of the Disney film Frozen.
These new areas will include attractions, restaurants and other facilities filled with enchantment that will enhance the Guest experience at Tokyo Disney Resort.

Disney Announces First D23 Expo to be Held in Japan

The Walt Disney Company Japan announced today that it will stage D23 Expo Japan 2015, a special event for Disney fans created by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. The Expo will take place over three days from November 6 to November 8, 2015 in Maihama in Tokyo Disney Resort.
D23 Expo is a special event held every two years in the U.S. as part of D23’s ongoing engagement with Disney’s most passionate fans. In 2013, Disney launched D23 Expo Japan, a uniquely Japanese event that remains true to D23’s vision for “the ultimate fan event.” The program includes thrilling performances, as well as engaging presentations by Disney executives, and showcases what’s on the horizon from across The Walt Disney Company, including theme parks, movies, television, and music. Themed around “the power of story,” D23 Expo Japan 2015 will bring together fascinating tales from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel.
Expo-exclusive experiences, merchandise, collectibles unavailable elsewhere, and countless other surprises await fans. Ticket and program information will be posted on the Disney Japan website starting in late-April 2015.
