Exclusive Behind-The-Scenes Preview of The 17th Door Extreme Haunted Experience

Southern California is home to the most diverse assortment of haunted attractions in the world, from major theme park events to stunning home haunts and stand-alone experiences. When The 17th Door made its debut in 2015, it took the haunt community by storm, immediately garnering media attention and huge social buzz due to its extreme and brutal content.

Created by husband and wife team Heather and Robbie Luther, The 17th Door followed the exploits of an ill-fated young adult – Paula Barclay – as she attended college at Gluttire University, where she battled real-life demons and horrific situations ranging from bulimia nervosa (binge eating and purging) and drug/alcohol abuse, to mental anguish and even rape. In short, The 17th Door showcased real-life horrors, rather than zombies, vampires, or iconic serial killers. We have often described The 17th Door as a “Hell House” type of experience, without the religious hammering at the end, in an effort to save your soul from the evils of this world and eternal damnation. Truly, this particular haunt is unlike anything we have ever experienced.

The 17th Door 2016 – Gluttire University Delivers!

The 17th Door - Gluttire University 2016In 2015, The 17th Door took no prisoners as Southern California’s hottest Halloween ticket. After literally coming out of nowhere to create this massive haunted attraction, husband and wife team Robbie and Heather Luther assembled a master cast and crew, and created their hellish October home – the fictitious Gluttire University – in an up-scale outdoor shopping complex in Tustin, just minutes south of the Disneyland Resort in Orange County.

Almost immediately after opening, social media lit up with accounts of the extreme haunt featuring live cockroaches, real animal carcasses, characters shocking guests with hand-held devices and more; the effect it all had was amazing – people flocked to The 17th Door in droves, curious and excited to experience the attraction for themselves.

A Sneak Peek Behind The 17th Door Haunt Experience 2016

17th-door-preview-2016_1546Without a doubt, the single most-anticipated new attraction to come online here in Southern California last Halloween was The 17th Door Haunt Experience. Located in Tustin, just minutes away from Disneyland in Orange County, The 17th Door hit the scene hard, taking everyone by surprise by its sheer size, detail and controversial content.

The 17th Door took no prisoners as it thrust thousands of curious guests into the nightmarish world of Paula, a college freshman with lots of emotional baggage. Embarking on her terror trip of bulimia, alcohol and drug abuse, we joined Paula as she made one bad decision after another – and paid for it dearly. Guests fought their way with Paula through solitary confinement, a room filled with live cockroaches, demons in the form of swine-human hybrids, and a myriad of gut-wrenching moments that pushed many to the brink. More than 3,000 visitors at The 17th Door last season tapped out – they cried mercy, because the intensity was simply too much for them to bear.

What Lies Beyond The 17th Door – A Preview of Orange County’s Newest Haunted Attraction

17th_Door_Preview_5439This weekend marks the opening of Orange County’s newest – and most anticipated – haunted attraction, The 17th Door. Located in the Tustin Marketplace, just about 10 minutes south of Disneyland off the 5 Freeway in Tustin, this new haunt has been the topic of much discussion – and speculation – among fans for the past several months.

The amount of enthusiasm and curiosity within and outside of the Southern California haunt community has been unprecedented in the past months, as word spread of a husband and wife team who aren’t established haunters, creating a stunning, high-quality attraction in Orange County, unlike any other. When we first learned about Robbie and Heather Luther, we were equally intrigued as everyone else; the couple went to TransWorld Halloween & Attractions Show in St. Louis earlier in the year and walked the floor, visited local haunted houses, and discussed the business with professional haunters. Back here on the West Coast, rumors were flying that this mystery couple was preparing to launch themselves head-first into the SoCal haunt community and make a resounding impact with their first endeavor, The 17th Door.
