Rally 4 Rhinos May 15 at San Diego Zoo Safari Park

san-diego-zoo-safari-park-rhinosSan Diego Zoo Global has been working for decades to help endangered species. The five species of rhino—white, black, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan—face a bleak future as they are poached for their horns. Their horn is made of keratin, the same thing as our fingernails.

Currently, a rhino is poached every 8 hours in South Africa. All combined, there are less than 30,000 rhinos remaining worldwide and at this rate rhinos could go extinct in 15 years.

Help us raise awareness of the plight of rhinos at Rally 4 Rhinos, taking place at the Safari Park’s African Plains Overlook. Safari Park personnel and invited guests will share rhino conservation information, all while having fun. Activities include entertainment by students from San Pasqual Union Elementary School and a sky art project.

If you can’t be with us on May 15, lend a hand and help us make rhino conservation trend through social media. Write “Stop killing rhinos” on your hand, take a photo, and post on your favorite social media outlet like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #Rally4Rhinos
