As the excitement builds in anticipation of next weekend’s Midsummer Scream convention in Long Beach, the Queen Mary has just announced that it will be revealing a new Dark Harbor maze and character to fans during its hour-long presentation on Saturday, July 29 in the Terrace Theater (main stage).
Typically, each of the major theme parks and attractions that participate in Midsummer Scream thrill guests with enticing presentations and discussions of what’s to be expected come Halloween time. The biggest moments come when the attractions unveil a new maze or major component – that is the pièce de résistance as far as fans are concerned; it’s what they line up for, and it’s what they hope to witness when they pour into the theater each summer.
“It really has become a thing,” says Rick West, Creative Director of Midsummer Scream. “We have always planned our conventions right at the prime time when theme parks and attractions everywhere are rolling out content announcements. Midsummer Scream’s fans are the hardest of the hard core; they come expecting big announcements just like fans at Comic-Con and D23 do. When an organization such as Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor makes a big announcement on our stage – that is what the fans hope for; it’s why they’ve come. A new maze and character announcement? That’s a mic drop, as far as we’re concerned. The entire team is thrilled that Dark Harbor has come out and announced publicly before our show what their fans can expect. Midsummer Scream is the perfect platform and premier venue for all attractions to make these announcements; when they go for it, it’s a win-win for everyone.”
Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor presentation takes place Saturday July 29 at 6pm in the Terrace Theater, Midsummer Scream’s main stage, which can seat more than 3,000 fans. Once the show floor and presentations conclude for the day on the 29th, the party continues aboard the Queen Mary, where Dark Harbor presents its Sinister Circus event, the official costume party of Midsummer Scream 2017.
Tickets are on sale for Midsummer Scream and Dark Harbor’s Sinister Circus at MidsummerScream.org.
