On Tuesday morning, August 27th, members of the media were invited to Universal Studios Hollywood to get a sneak peek at Halloween Horror Nights 2013’s monsters and make-up! Theme Park Adventure was there and has video and images to share with its fans!
With Horror Nights construction well underway, and make-up prosthetic production in full motion, this is typically the time of year that fans get their first real glimpse of what they can expect when the fog flows and the gates open this Halloween at Universal Studios Hollywood. Hosted in The Globe Theatre at Universal Studios, the event showcases the make-up and design aspects of creating Halloween Horror Nights, bringing the concepts off the page (or computer screen) and into bloody, tangible existence, from mazes to monsters and everything in between!
Halloween Horror Nights Creative Director/Producer John Murdy played host to scores of journalists and photographers from local to international media outlets as the press jammed into the Globe to see what’s coming to HHN in just about a month from now. Murdy welcomed the group and patiently posed for hundreds of photos, and a long list of interviews, from big media to fan sites such as MiceChat to Theme Park Adventure.
Also in the house was Larry Bones, owner of Bone Yard Effects, Inc., as well as Head of Make-Up for Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights event. Larry and his talented team of make-up artists have taken on the huge task of creating nearly 4,000 prosthetic pieces for this year’s HHN event, and are very excited about the process!
On display during the Horror Nights media preview were masks and costumes to be used in the mazes and scare zones this year at Universal Studios Hollywood, including Insidious: Into the Further, El Cucuy: The Boogeyman, Black Sabbath 13 3D, and Curse of Chucky. Throughout the room, make-up demonstrations took place, creating walkers for The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven, demonic delights for Evil Dead: Book of the Dead, and Universal Monster Remix: Resurrection. There were even make-up stations set up to transform members of the media into ghoulish spectacles.
This annual event officially kicks off Universal Studios Hollywood’s on-site media previews of all that is Halloween Horror Nights, and is heralded by fans far and wide, as excitement reaches the boiling point and there are just a matter of days before HHN begins! TPA will continue to bring you exclusive insight and breaking news leading up to opening night!
