Epic Home Haunts Halloween Documentary First Teaser Released

Halloween fans, get excited! Saga Studios, LLC has released the teaser for their first feature-length film, a documentary called Epic Home Haunts. The fascinating film follows four groups of haunters as they create and build some of the world’s most incredible haunted attractions at their homes in Southern California, and Theme Park Adventure has your first peek!

Those familiar with SoCal haunters know what they’re capable of – full-blown haunted attractions complete with giant animatronic dragons, Medieval castles, Old West cemeteries, and portals to other dimensions that rival the quality of haunts found at major theme parks across the nation.

“These haunters are literally shedding sweat, blood, and tears to create some of the scariest, most detailed haunted houses in the world, and they do it simply for the love of it,” says Josh Quillin, Director of Epic Home Haunts. “They don’t make any money either; what they collect is used for the haunt and donated to charity. The haunters want to bring their communities together giving their neighborhoods somewhere safe and thrilling to go on Halloween.”

Epic Home Haunts documents the creative process of four groups of home haunters throughout their 2016 and 2017 Halloween seasons, exploring the impact their haunted attractions have on their communities and the positive influence they have on local neighborhoods.

It’s not uncommon for home haunters to begin planning their haunts a year or more in advance, or for construction of these elaborate attractions to begin during the summer months in their back yards, garages, driveways, and front lawns. The results are staggering, drawing thousands of enthusiastic visitors to their roadside attractions each Halloween season, generating incredible admiration for the SoCal haunt community while raising thousands of dollars and/or mountains of food goods that go to various charities each year.

“Epic Home Haunts is successful in that it not only showcases some truly amazing attractions here in Southern California, but it also gives viewers the chance to meet some of the incredible individuals behind these world-class creations,” says Rick West, Creative Director of Midsummer Scream. “Josh has worked feverishly creating the documentary that we’ve all been waiting for – a wonderful love letter to haunters and fans that portrays this community in a positive, responsible, respectable light. As a filmmaker, he’s done haunters everywhere proud, and the fans are going to fall in love with this documentary, no question. This is the project to get behind and to be very excited about; it’s not going to disappoint.”

This is the first teaser for Epic Home Haunts – one of three that will be released in the months to follow, culminating with the full trailer released at Midsummer Scream 2018 at the Long Beach Convention Center during a full panel presentation about the documentary hosted by Josh Quillin on Saturday, July 28.
