TPA Events

More than a website, Theme Park Adventure is a community; we have been since 1994. The TPA family consists of theme park fans, haunted attraction owners and crews, and themed entertainment industry professionals. At least once a month, TPA hosts gatherings and mixers for all to enjoy, and everyone is always invited…

TPA Mixers at Don the Beachcomber off to a Great Start in 2016

Winter Nights at Don's January 2016It’s hard to believe we’re already two month into 2016, but we are! With the temperature a chilly 86 degrees outside, it’s definitely wintertime here in Southern California, as El Nino plows into us with wave after wave of devastating storms. At this rate, we may never see summer. It’s a good thing we have each other to raise our spirits and keep each other warm and safe inside the Hidden Village at Don the Beachcomber as our mixers continue in this new year!

On the evening of Sunday, January 17th, more than 100 theme park fans and haunt enthusiasts gathered at the famous tiki restaurant in Huntington Beach to kick off our Winter Nights at Don’s 2016 gatherings! It was tremendous to see everyone come together after the holidays, and ring in the new year together with potent tropical cocktails and exotic (okay, not so exotic) eats and treats!

Final TPA Mixer of 2015 Our Biggest Ever!

The madness of our biggest TPA mixer ever!As the year comes to a close, we spend a lot of time reflecting on the past 12 months and the journey it’s been through 2015 with our friends and loved ones. During the year, we have hosted quite a few mixers at Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach, California. There’s no way we’d let the year end without taking a look back at that wild and crazy night on November 8th when fans and haunters alike came together to share their wild tales of the Halloween season, and to laugh the night away as a community.

Traditionally our largest mixer of the year, this November’s certainly didn’t disappoint. In fact, the group that showed up for our Post-Halloween Bash was the biggest was the biggest we’ve ever hosted, with well over 200 people in attendance. Themed entertainment fans, haunters, and industry professionals – it was a fantastic group that filled the Hidden Village quite nicely at Don’s, mixing and mingling for hours!

TPA Mixers Say Goodbye to Summer, Hello to Halloween 2015

TPA_Summer_Nights_2_4156Theme Park Adventure’s final Summer Nights mixer of the year was held on Sunday, July 19th at Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach. We had a tremendous showing of themed entertainment fans, haunters and industry folks – the vibe was amazing and the party was rockin, despite Florida-like heat and humidity! The weather was crazy, and so, we were thrilled to see so many TPAers brave the freeways in the rain to come join us for the last mixer of the summer.

Last mixer of the summer? Yep. In August, Theme Park Adventure was consumed by ScareLA. If you don’t know, Johanna Atilano and I make up 1/2 of the ScareLA core production team, so our schedules leading up to that convention are pretty wild; the week after ScareLA was D23 Expo in Anaheim, which we attended, and no doubt, many TPAers did, too. So, that pretty much killed August for an official TPA mixer of any kind.

TPA’s Summer Nights at Don The Beachcomber Begin!

Summer Nights 1 2015_3484Summer got off to a great start on Sunday, June 14 as Theme Park Adventure fans gathered at Don the Beachcomber for our first Summer Nights mixer of 2015!

Tiki drinks and lots of laughs were in abundance as fans of all ages, haunters, and industry professionals mingled, talking shop while getting to know each other better. All the while, shenanigans were on tap, as music played and guests enjoyed the grab-n-go food station set up by the staff at Don the Beachcomber for us.

This month, we unveiled a brand-new TPA tiki logo by our good friend, Tom “Thor” Thordarson – which he drew in the likeness of Don the Beach himself, straw hat and all! It is a very cool design, and our TPAers love it! We gave 30 Summer Nights buttons away to the first TPAers to show up at 7pm, and will continue to give another 30 away at the beginning of our next mixer in July!

TPA’s Spring Nights at Don’s 3 Mixer Bids Aloha to the Season

Spring_Nights_3_2132The sun has set on Theme Park Adventure’s Spring Nights at Don’s mixers for 2015, as the season has come to an end, and a new sun is about to dawn on summer! On Sunday, May 17th, TPA fans gathered once again at Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach for a fun night of mixing, mingling, tiki cocktails, great food, and good friends during our Spring Nights at Don’s 3 social mixer!

The great thing about TPA mixers, is that you never know who’s going to show up! Theme Park Adventure has a broad fan base of young folks, older folks, theme park fans, haunters, and industry professionals – a completely unique mix of characters under one roof for a few hours each month with a level playing field; everyone is open and accessible in the spirit of friendship and community!

Don  the Beachcomber, which is on Pacific Coast Highway between Huntington and Seal Beach (it’s located at Sunset Beach) and is a hot locals spot that rolls out the red carpet for Theme Park Adventure, and turns over its private Hidden Village room, which is a fantastic space very reminiscent of the old Tahitian Terrace at Disneyland back in the day. We love the whole tiki vibe, and it’s always fun to be near the beach here in Southern California, so Don’s is a perfect match for us!
