Africa Rocks Expansion Coming to San Diego Zoo in 2017
Posted on July 31, 2015
An African crested porcupine had the honor of taking the first dig this week, when the San Diego Zoo broke ground on the largest expansion in its 99-year history. Conrad Prebys Africa Rocks is a $68 million project that will transform eight acres of the Zoo and replace 1930s-era grottos and enclosures (formerly known as Cat and Dog Canyon) with new habitats for African plant and animal species that range from savanna to shore.
When the exhibit opens in 2017, Africa Rocks will entirely transform the area that was previously a steep canyon. Africa Rocks’ gently winding, ADA-accessible pathway will lead guests through different types of African habitats—including a West African forest, acacia woodlands, Ethiopian highlands, kopje gardens and a Madagascar habitat.

The Walking Dead Returns to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights in Los Angeles and Orlando for 2015
Posted on July 30, 2015
The nation’s insatiable appetite for AMC’s The Walking Dead will continue to terrify Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort when the most intense moments from season 5 of the critically-acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning television series take a bite out of Halloween Horror Nights, beginning Friday, September 18, 2015.
Attempts to evade the terror of the undead and the inhumane brutality of mankind will be the underlying theme of these mazes as guests navigate authentic three-dimensional recreations of one of television’s most talked about shows, The Walking Dead.
Following in the footsteps of The Walking Dead cast, guests will begin their journey at the Terminus safe-haven compound, where an unspeakable hunger has consumed the demented souls of those dwelling within. As the chaos ensues, guests will encounter even greater atrocities as they stumble upon dismembered “W” walkers, witness the horror of victims besieged by the living dead, and step onto the loading dock of the Del Arno Food warehouse to face hordes of “W” walkers.
“I couldn’t be more delighted to continue and expand The Walking Dead universe with Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando than by having fans experience some of the most harrowing and suspenseful moments of our show,” said Greg Nicotero, executive producer and special effects makeup supervisor for The Walking Dead. “Halloween Horror Nights is the gold standard to which all other Halloween-themed events try to emulate, so to bring authentic walkers to this event, alongside other horror greats, is the ultimate thrill.”

Universal Studios Singapore Announces Halloween Horror Nights 5
Posted on July 30, 2015
Universal Studios Singapore is set to bring your scariest nightmares to life once again, with a unique touch of Singaporean flair this year. Taking center stage at Halloween Horror Nights 5 will be a new chapter of True Singapore Ghost Stories inspired by horror stories on the train, an epidemic-stricken HDB block, a hell house featuring paper effigies, as well as the event’s first ever dark house. Starting from 2 October 2015, Halloween Horror Nights 5 will run for 14 nights across five weekends. Tickets are now on sale.
Ms Andrea Teo, Vice President of Entertainment at Resorts World Sentosa, said: “We are excited to be back with Halloween Horror Nights 5, Singapore’s only fully-immersive Halloween experience. We heard our fans, and this year’s event will take even more of a local twist, bringing fear even closer to heart. Expect to see familiar scenes and folklore in three locally themed haunted houses with the fourth house featuring an intense underground experience. The theme for Southeast Asia’s iconic Halloween event this year surrounds the rise of the blood moon, which will spread destruction to life as we know it.”
