IAAPA Lists New Rides & Attractions for 2015

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) released its preview of major new rides and attractions opening in 2015 at amusement parks, attractions, water parks, family entertainment centers, science centers, museums, zoos, and aquariums around the world.
IAAPA showcased the compilation during IAAPA Attractions Expo, the largest annual gathering for the worldwide attractions industry. The Expo took place Nov. 17-21, 2014 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. More than 27,000 attractions industry professionals took part in more than 80 education sessions, five days of networking, and shopped for the latest innovations displayed by 1,000 companies across a 540,000-net-square-foot trade show floor. A number of amusement parks and industry suppliers made announcements at the event related to 2015 attractions.

Mila Celebrates First Anniversary at San Diego Zoo

This month, Mila, the African elephant from New Zealand, celebrated the first anniversary of her arrival to the San Diego Zoo with some special edible treats. The 42-year-old elephant arrived in San Diego on Nov. 14, 2013, through collaboration with the Franklin Zoo Charitable Trust. Animal care staff celebrated by providing Mila treats of pineapple, flowers and banana stalks.
Mila had been living at the Franklin Zoo since 2009. As the only elephant in New Zealand, Mila had not been around another elephant for decades. Animal care staff successfully introduced her into the herd at the San Diego Zoo and she is doing well.

Old Time Holidays at Old Tucson 2014

SeaWorld Orlando Rolls Out Express Dine

SeaWorld Orlando recently introduced Express Dine at its Seaport Pizza eatery to help cut wait times, especially during the busiest time of the year. An industry-pioneering feature, Express Dine is solely accessible from the SeaWorld Discovery Guide park app, furthering the app’s interactivity and maximizing its technology to allow guests to order lunch or dinner in advance.
By accessing the SeaWorld app from their smartphone, guests have the option to select from any of Seaport Pizza’s family-style pizzas, salads and soft drinks from anywhere in the park. Following the order, guests choose their preferred pick-up time and can then stop by to enjoy their meal at their convenience.
Express Dine is designed to maximize convenience for families by allowing them to plan their meals ahead of time in a fun, interactive and user-friendly way. With this new feature, families can expect shorter wait times so they can make the most of their day in the park.
