REVIEW: Knott’s Scary Farm 2013 Shows

IMG_2952One of the biggest aspects of Knott’s Scary Farm and its annual Halloween Haunt event in Buena Park, California, is its impressive entertainment roster. While Theme Park Adventure has admittedly bypassed reviews of Haunt’s major shows in favor of focusing attention on mazes and scare zones over the years (we’re not huge fans of theme park entertainment usually), we understand that there are many folks that attend the Scary Farm primarily because of the shows and various forms of live entertainment. With that in mind, TPA spent one evening this season at Knott’s solely to see the shows and take a few pictures so that we could pass along our thoughts as part of Halloween 2013’s content here on the site for our readers!

REVIEW: Urban Death Tour of Terror 2013

Urban Death: Tour of Terror Haunted Theatre isn’t your grandpa’s haunted house. Hell, it’s not even like any haunted attraction we’ve ever seen, to be accurate! What Zombie Joe and his well-known Underground Theatre Group have unleashed on Los Angeles this Halloween season is nothing short of haunting, perplexing and for the twisted folks out there… even a bit titillating.

REVIEW: The Empty Grave 2013

One of the local Southern California haunted attractions that Theme Park Adventure has kept tabs on for the last few years is The Empty Grave, located at the Anaheim GardenWalk in Orange County, just minutes away from the Disneyland Resort. This particular haunt has grown (and had some growing pains) over the years, and as the season began in 2013, early word was that this is Empty Grave’s finest yet, which pleased us and made us really curious to check it out for ourselves!

REVIEW: Field of Screams Haunted Stadium 2013

One of the most popular videos on Theme Park Adventure’s YouTube Channel is from Field of Screams The Haunted Stadium in Lake Elsinore, California. Considering that we had not paid that haunt a visit since 2010, we felt a return was due this season to see what’s changed and to get new video for TPAers to check out!

Mourning Rose Manor Home Haunt 2013

IMG_6111As we rolled up to our first serious yard display of the Halloween season – Mourning Rose Manor in Simi Valley – I was suddenly overcome by an anxious feeling welling up from my gut. Not a bad feeling – but rather, that magical wonderment that I felt each season when houses were decorated nicely, be it for Halloween or Christmas. Nothing makes me feel like a kid again more than the holidays when people take the time and make an effort to set up a display in their yard for everyone to enjoy!

REVIEW: Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood 2013

In the battle of Southern California Halloween event giants, the dominant force in the Los Angeles region is Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights. Headed up by John Murdy and Chris Williams, HHN has become a smash success that is known for its movie-quality sets and maze design, along with incredible make-up and hot intellectual properties that the company wrangles each season including The Walking Dead and Insidious in 2013!

The Purge: Fear the Night Addresses Rough Start

photoOne of the most talked about haunts of 2012 was the Blumhouse of Horrors in Los Angeles, California. When producer Jason Blum elaborated on The Purge: Fear The Night to a standing-room only crowd during ScareLA this summer, fans went nuts over the news. However, a less than stellar start to the new venture last week brought operations to a halt and put the production team into a stunning damage control/reconfiguration process that is nothing short of incredible. Theme Park Adventure was asked to visit and access the newly-reworked production on the night of October 3rd and has come away with some very clear knowledge, information and observations that we want to share with our readers.
